Who We Are

TAISO Gymnastics Training Centre is a non-profit amateur sports organization run by a volunteer Board of Directors. Our philosophy at TAISO is that gymnastics is for everyone - for those who want the physical enjoyment gymnastics offers; and for the serious competitive gymnast. Although our competitive team consists of strictly female gymnasts, we proudly offer men's gymnastics at the preschool, school-age, and intermediate/pre-competitive level. All instructors are properly certified in the NCCP program as well as in First Aid, and are paid employees of TAISO.

Our History

TAISO first began as the Sackville Gymnastic Club in 1974 operating out of Sackville High School. In 1976 the club became TAISO and in 1979 was given 2,700 square feet in the Sackville Town Centre, which is now Staples. Club membership at this time was 250 members. As membership increased, TAISO needed more space and was given 4,500 square feet in 1984 in the same mall. In 1988 there was plans to build a Bingo Hall on the shores of First Lake. TAISO was asked to be part of this project and TAISO as we know it today was built. Over the years TAISO has grown to over 1,000 members and has been the major contributor to Nova Scotia Women’s teams to Atlantics, Easterns, Nationals and Canada Games for over 30 years.
